I have never been a fan of reading books. In fact growing up, I hated books, novels or anything that required reading. It was really bad! I remember there were times in secondary school where I had to ask friends who had read a particular romance novel to list out pages that were most interesting and catchy. I guess I hated it that much.

“Sometimes it's like: If something terrifies you, you should totally do it BECAUSE it terrifies you. And then you'll do it and you'll realise what you're capable of."

But that habit suddenly changed when I started having unanswered questions. Growing up was less stressing, after all I had almost everything done for me. I cared less about what I was doing right or wrong, most especially because I believed everything was going to sort out themselves in the long run. But I was wrong or should I say I was mistaken?

“Your personal growth is the only thing that matters. You own and write your story; no one else does. Believe in your unique steps up the mountain."

Months after leaving secondary school, I started receiving advice's from my parents on how life was filled with risks and how decisions taken at some points in my life could make or mar me. I became scared, unrelaxed and even more conscious. Slowly, I began to ask questions and these questions kept pilling up with no answers. It was at those moments self-help books became the right tool. I sourced for books that were inspirational and related to questions I had, I wouldn't say these books answered all my questions though. But one thing I noticed, was the fact that I never dropped those books without gaining a thing or two. Even so, I started wanting to find out more stuff and gradually my love for self-help or inspirational books developed.

“There is no limit to what you can do,when you focus on your strength."

I'm definitely not the only one with unanswered questions and most people don't have the right persons to help with those questions. My advice for you is to start reading related books. I enjoy reading books that are so related to things I'm bothered about, I'm most times more amazed to see how similar my situation is, to someone who has passed those stages years ago and yes most importantly I learn from their experiences. The most important thing to keep in mind when reading books like this, is to be OPEN MINDED!

“Think you can and you can do it.
Your thoughts are your life."

I have learnt over time that beliefs I grew up with were not all related to me, but they have been passed from generations to generations and so it was up to me to be reborn. I read a phrase recently that said “ you can be anything and everything you want to be!" I doubted it when I first read it, but I was made to realize that it was up to me to believe it. But hey! It felt farfetched. It was really hard to comprehend but I knew I needed changes in my life. I was aware I wasn't exactly working towards my dreams, and it was obvious that I probably didn't believe in those dreams. So yea I needed changes, and here I was reading a book that said, I could be anything I wanted to be regardless of whatever situation I was in. I needed to believe it and so I repeated that statement to myself everyday and before long I grew to love and believe in it. My life hasn't changed drastically but it has changed. Those books has helped in building my mental strength. Although there are times that can be unexplainable, I have been able to remind myself of the potentials I have. Yes! To get a result you've never gotten, you have to do things that you've never done. But always remember, YOU CAN BE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO BE!
