“Love your calling with passion. It is the meaning of your life.”
According to the host of the TV show, his father told him this story when he told his father what path he has decided to tread on in life. It's a story about a now managing director, who had dropped out of school to join a rock band as a guitarist in his youthful age. His parents pleaded with him to return back to school, but he refused. Then came a day, when his rock band went for a concert to perform and when they were done with their performance, a different band came on stage to perform as well and the guitarist of that band was playing so well that everyone was in awe. The guitarist played so well that the now managing director thought to himself that no matter how long or how well he would play the guitar, he would never be able to play like that guy. He was so sure that the guitarist of that band was doing exactly what he was called for. And he knew within himself that he wasn't called to be a guitarist but instead he was doing it because he loved the fame, the girls and all the good stuffs that came with being in a rock band. So, he decided to leave the band and go back to school, which was a decision he never regretted. And yea! He became the managing Director of a really big company.
“I believe there's a calling for all of us. I know that every human being has value and purpose. The real work of our lives is to become aware. And awakened. To answer the call."- Oprah Winfrey
I think the lessons from this story are really straight forward. Whatever you're doing, be sure it's something you are inspired about to do. More like a calling. Everyone knows their reason behind every step they take in life, be sure and aware of what yours is. You can only be the best at something, if you're very much inspired by it. I understand that in this time and age, people care less about passion. They are fixed on the rewards and profits. It's not a bad idea though but it isn't the best either. Everyone has something really unique and outstanding about them. Don't be blinded by the rewards and do what you love instead, you will definitely succeed in it. A lot of people around us today are a definition of the fact that you can be anything you want to be regardless of your situation or background, as long as you're determined and consistent. As always the sky is your starting point!
What ever you're doing right now, is it your calling?
